If you haven’t heard of the Kalogeras Sisters, you’re either not on TikTok or are living under a rock. Sunday, Demitra and Eliana have taken the world by a storm with their lined lips, Jellycat obsession and big, curly hair.
Before them, not many girls were embracing their natural curls. After their rise in popularity, every second video I see on TikTok is about how to take care of curls…
and I love it!
As a girl with curly hair myself, I’ve always wished I had straight hair. But, just seeing girls with big platforms with hair like mine encouraged me to care for my hair and embrace the curls. I’ve seen girls at school now embracing theirs too - even girls tat I thought had naturally straight hair because that’s how it was always styled.
Has social media actually done good for acceptance of a person’s natural self?
However, fans aren’t as accepting of big hair and personalities as you’d expect, often claiming any funny girl with curly hair is “copying” the YouTube stars.
Can we ever have a good thing that lasts? I hope so.
Will this become a trend we look back on? I hope not.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments! I’d love to chat.
